La asociación
Áskal is a non-profit association dedicated to the promotion of the use of dogs for social ends.
In addition to being fantastic company, dogs can serve as support to increase autonomy and development of people with some level of disability, which helps social integration.
Askal centres its efforts in the training and preparation of dogs for people with a hearing disability. Askal rescues abandoned dogs and trains them to be ‘hearing dogs’, that’s to say, with the skill to alert recipients to selected sounds.
Based in Barcelona, the association Askal is formed by a multidiscipline group of dog trainers specialised in ‘hearing dogs’, assistance dogs with a specific positive training, focussed on the support of deaf people mainly in the home.
Askal works with associations of people with hearing disabilities. These groups support the application of an individual, who after an evaluation can receive one of these dogs for their permanent use and enjoyment.
